3 Quick Steps To Install The Buffer Button With Your Sharebar

Only last week Joel has pushed the Buffer Button as a wordpress plugin live. Since a few users have had issues with simply installing the plugin, I wanted to give you a sure fire way of how to make it work without any troubles.

Sharebar is a great plugin and very similar to DiggDigg. It allows you to display all your favourite social sharing options in a super simple way.

1.) Install Sharebar

Simply search your plugins for the plugin “sharebar” and install it. After activation, you will have a nice looking set of sharing options for all your favourite social networks in your sidebar:

2.) Add a new Button

On your WordPress dashboard you can access the plugin via “settings”. After this, simply click “add new Button”.

3.) Add the Buffer Button

Even if you don’t know any code it is super simple. All you do is copy and paste. Put in “Buffer” for name and “1” for position (or any other position you prefer) and tick “enabled”.

Copy and past the code below into the fields:

So it should now look like this:

After this, click “update” and voila, the Buffer Button sits nicely in your sharebar with all the other plugins.

I have recently been testing both DiggDigg and Sharebar and found that Sharebar offers adding buttons in a super intuitive manner, which isn’t yet available with DiggDigg.

I hope this was useful and you can give it a go via your ShareBar plugin. Please let me know any questions you have about it.

Hi Joel Hi Leo,  If this is a way for me to get the Buffer app onto my site, I am ready to go with this ShareBar!

Well I tried adding the ShareBar and it did pop up for a minute.  But I go back into my blog and it is no longer there.  Is there a way to go through the settings with you via Skype or on the phone?

Hi Lynn, absolutely, let’s do it over Skype! :)

      I am leonhard.widrich

I added the big buffer button to my share bar, but when I try it it just tweets out [title] [url] via [twitter] . any suggestions?

      Hi Ben,

That is very odd. Have you copy and pasted the code as displayed above? Keen to get this sorted out for you.

My theme already had the share bar installed in it, so Im adding this code through the theme files, but I’ve readied it multiple times and can’t seem to get it to work, but Im sure its nothing on your end.

Hi – I added the big buffer button to my side bar, but when I try it it just tweets out [title] [url] via [twitter] . any suggestions? I’m on blogspot.com – Thanks Jwls

Loving this plugin!  Thank you very much.

One quick question…  Is it possible to include a “Clip to Evernote” button and if it is, where would I find the code to use? (I’m definitely not a coder)

    Thanks

      Hi Paul,

Great to see you here. I am not quite sure the Clip to Evernote button is available here, but I think you can easily add a custom code for it as ShareBar makes this very easy! :)

This is great but it seems it is not showing correctly in IE 8/7 (win xp svcpk 3) – the bubble and the button are not there  – only a “Buffer” regular link. Please advise at your convenience :) thank you

Hi Stefano, thanks for the heads up! Yes, i think there is a slight problem with IE here, keen to look into this more and sorry for the hassle!

This is a classic example of how a G+ post lead me to Neil Patel’s article on how to get more RT which landed me here and now I have the Buffer code to add to my WordPress blog which will be updated on my Local Search Marketing Page with the extra EST code to entice a RT during the more active 5PM time

Wow, that’s so great to hear and big thanks to @NeilPatel:twitter  of course for the awesome write-up. please let me know once the button is up and post a link to your blog here, would love to promote you! :)

    Hi guys
Is there a way to add the via “twittername” to the button so I get a mention when someone are using the button? It looks like it is implemented in the script but it does not work. Not in my blog and not on this blog either. Have tried both in IE and in Google Chrome.

Hi @ca5c4c100408378e4cdffa8401c0a061:disqus , thanks for the heads up. Yes, there is definitely the possibility to do that, and you have done everything right! It is just a slight bug from our side to have the @username be displayed at the end. Please stay tuned, this should be fixed real soon. :)

you should create a plugin that does all this. Sharebar is bugie and I always have problems with it. And I can’t figure out how to add buffer to DiggDigg

Just added the button to my Sharebar. However the “via” for the retweet isn’t showing up when (or others) buffer the post. How do I make that work? Thanks.

How is the ShareBar different from DiggDigg? They look the same to me.
