7 Hilarious And Smart Twitter Bios To Check Out

209 Flares Filament.io Made with Flare More Info'> 209 Flares ×

Recently I came across a few fantastic Twitter Bios that made me both chuckle and also appreciate the smartness of the people.

It is one thing to write a bio that tells me about what you do, but an entirely different thing to make it funny and entertaining at the same time too.

Because I am so bad at writing a creative bio myself, I thought of sharing some great ones that I came across with you instead. It certainly motivated me to have a go at my own bio soon. I am sure I can learn a thing or two from these awesome tweeps.

1.) @JamieCrager a Serial Chips and Salsa Eater

I absolutely love Jamie’s bio. His opening sentence makes it immediately clear to me that he is someone you will have fun with. It is fantastic to see that Jamie puts his human interests first before he follows up with the business side of things. The fact that he was voted best Social Media consultant in Omaha for 2011 made following a no brainer.

2.) @MayhemStudios is a Self Proclaimed Media Ho

Calvin Lee’s bio is a very attention grabbing piece. The humble way he expresses his interest in Social Media made me laugh for sure. The personal insight following what he is up to in his spare time isn’t any less impressive. Oh and if even Chris Brogan says he is a nice guy, I couldn’t go wrong getting his tweets into my stream – followed.

3.) @JuliaRosien is a Life Traveler

When I recently came across Julia’s bio I could literally see her positivity jumping off the stream. And not just because it says “Positivity Engager”. In general I found that the word combinations in her bio were both very funny and also informative. The super friendly pic and Twitter background made me check out more of what she is up to immediately.

4.) @Brasonja – as sincere and curious as it gets

Although I have known Boris for a little while, it was only today after a little confusion on my side that I started to pay closer attention to his bio. What I love is his description starting out with Boris’ personality. The combination of being sincere, friendly, curious and ambitious with a concise list of interests following made me want to have him in my timeline.

5.) @MelissaOnline is a true Passionista

A recent fantastic addition to my timeline was Melissa Stewart. What made me follow in the first place was definitely her great bio. The creative way in which she plays with words and relates them to her passion for entrepreneurship made me think, smile and follow of course.

6.) @JanKovitch is many things

Jan’s bio boasts an incredible collection of what he is up to. What makes it fun is the fact that you can connect each adjective with one of the nouns, which extends the content of his bio dramatically. Overall I was just amazed by the many combinations you could come up with. I am not even sure if we can assume he is now universally happy or just universal and happy.

7.) @TechZader is a Life Liver

Another bio that caught my attention is Chris Luzader’s. Even though rather vague, he emphasizes his interest in technology with a seriously smart use of words. As he sprinkles it with Latin wisdom it was clear that I wanted to follow, not least because he is someone trying to make a difference.

Now don’t get me wrong, I think a Twitter bio is obviously just one thing that is important for a successful Twitter presence. With these 7 examples, I just wanted to show you some which I was seriously impressed by.

Have you come across any great Twitter bios lately? Do you think it is important what we write in our bios?

  • http://twitter.com/bronco4540 Mark Barresi

Thanks. This was entertaining. Many times, I’ve followed people just because I like their bio.

    • Anonymous

Hi Mark, awesome, glad you liked them too! Yes, exactly, sometimes it is just because of a great bio that you can follow someone. :)

  • http://twitter.com/bronco4540 Mark Barresi

What you write in your bio is definitely important. People will search for terms in your bio to find people with similar interests or careers. Also, it’s one of the first things people see. It sets the tone.

    • Anonymous

      Hi Mark,

Yes, I think investing a bit of time in a decent bio can be very rewarding, especially for the reasons your listed, we get to know more interesting people interested in the same things! :)

  • patricia rossi

Thanks so very much. Bios really tell you so very much about a person real self …I enjoyed reading this..

Hi @f48c6bdeeec4b87edb45b20559322afa:disqus , thanks for your comment.

Yes, absolutely, I believe bios really are a great place to express what we are all about! Glad you liked these examples Patricia! :)

  • http://twitter.com/brasonja Boris Rasonja

Thank you Leo for including me, greatly appreciate it! :)
Wrote my bio spontaneously and never changed it, despite all those “How to’s” and advices from “specialists”.
Continue with the great work here and good luck!

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

      Hi Boris,

Yes, you are right, me too, I mostly ignore advice on making bios work in a “strategic” way, I think just trying to be yourself and human is all it takes. :)

Sure thing, talk to you soon! :)

  • http://tech18.com/ Sunil Jain

Woah :) 5 among them are my Twitter bro’s :) I am proud to have them tweeting with me :) , I’ve observed so many Twitter bio’s which make other Twitter users to follow them.

Eg : Few of the Twitter users, purposefully have the twitter handle with “u”  replaced by “_” and in the bio they write “I’m not successful without “U” following me” lol :P

    Happy Tweeting Leo =)

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Hi Sunil, great to see you here buddy. Awesome, that is a big encouragement that I have picked the right people then.

Hehe, yep, totally understand that, better help them get that sorted out! :)

  • http://www.3hatscommunications.com/blog/ davinabrewer

Some good ones, already follow Calvin Lee…. checking out some of these other picks. BTW Mark Schaefer has done a few good lists, hilarious stuff. Agree with @twitter-305392294:disqus about not only the keywords, but the tone. How annoying is it to follow someone and have their tweets not reflect their profile? The Twitter profile tells folks what to expect of your tweets, the personality as well as the content so it is important to make it count. FWIW.

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

      Hi Davina,

Great to see you here. Absolutely, @MayhemStudios:twitter needs to be in that list. You are right, I remember that list from Mark, it was very funny.

Yes, emphasising the tone more is definitely important and just like you say if it is out of line, I would be very confused.

  • http://www.twitter.com/JamieCrager Jamie Crager

Thank you Leo for including me and for your comments… Anytime you want to have chips and salsa, please give me a call! Or at least let me grill you something! :-)

I think people want to connect with people they can relate too and that’s hard to do if someone has “buy my stuff” written all over. Its a fact, people buy from who they know, like and trust and who wouldn’t trust someone who loves chips & salsa! lol :-)

Rock on my friend… All the best!

    Jamie

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Hi Jamie, thanks for your comment.

Hehe, absolutely, that was my plan! :)

Yes, you are absolutely right, I think emphasising the human element the way you do and live it, is key. Will certainly watch out for all chips and salsa eaters in the future ;)

  • http://twitter.com/melissaonline Melissa Stewart

Thank you for including me in such a fabulous list! I’m honored to be mentioned!! Next time you’re in Nashville the coffee’s on me (unfortunately I mean that literally most of the time)! XOXO!!

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Hi Melissa, thanks for stopping by!

No worries at all, it’s my pleasure and fantastic to have connected with you. Awesome, thanks for the offer, yep, will be sure to ping once I get to that area whilst we are in the US. :)

I don’t know Leo, I’m still kinda trying to figure everything out while trying to find about 6 hours and 38 minutes I KNOW is missing from the day’s time.

Buffer has changed Twitter for me, you are one of my favorite people in only for this one special thing you helped bring to me. ~Thanks. (I know, again…. but still!) I want to meet a couple folks up in your list of Bios…

here’s a question… can I just go up to someone I have no connection with, as yet and introduce myself? Hmm. Thanks Leo- this was fun!

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

      Hi there,

Oh no, that is not good, sorry to hear that Twitter is giving you troubles, I found that we just need to be generous with that little fella ;).

Fantastic, so great to hear that Buffer is helpful for you and I am very glad that I could help out with it.

Yes, so what I suggest is you just retweet one of their tweets, follow them for a little while and answer a question they might have had.

Actually, now that you mention it @girlygrizzly:disqus I will write a post about it for you. Stay tuned. :)

Sheesh Leo – you must have missed mine somehow…

But that is ok. As we already know too much Lulz is a security risk ;)

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Oh no, Steven, that is so true, it would have been a fantastic fit, sorry I didn’t think about it.

Hehe, true that too, we all learnt from that didn’t we? :)

  • http://twitter.com/JuliaRosien Julia Rosien

Wow, I’m so honored to be included in this list – what an amazing group of peeps! Every time someone calls me out on social media for being too chipper, I have to say – I woke up on this side of the grass, what’s not to love about that?

Glad to find some positivity-lovers here too :-)

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Hi @twitter-16339845:disqus , great to see you here! :)

Oh, no worries at all, it is absolutely my pleasure. Yes, it is just like you say, why not try and express our positivity as much as we can? I am absolutely on your side of the grass! :)

  • http://www.ianmayman.com/ Ian

I have found my bio content results in who follows me regardless of how often I tweet about something mentioned in my bio, so I cover a few things in my bio of interest to me. To make it more accurate and get better followers I have change it very little, what do you think?
