We have just rolled out another feature. It’s a nifty new Button to add to blogs, which we call the Buffer Button.

You can see it right next to the Retweet button above. I hope you’ll try it out, it works just like the browser extensions do.

We are currently testing it on a few blogs to see how it works for everyone and plan on rolling out a WordPress plugin to make it easy to add to your own blog.

Would you use it?

We would be super thankful if you could tell us what you think about the Button. Do you think it is useful?

We also plan on showing the number of Buffered tweets there, just like the regular tweet Button does.

I want one!

Would you like to test the button on your own blog?

For now you can simply add this code in:

If you would rather wait for the WP-Plugin we will keep you up to date here. Or let us know on Twitter or below in the comments so we can put you on the list so you are the first one to know!

We also plan on connecting the Buffer button to an affiliate program so any blog with the button installed can earn a monthly commission if someone signs up through the Buffer Button.

Do you think that would be attractive?

Any thoughts you have on this are very welcome, please share them with us! 🙂

Awesome, that is so great to hear James, exactly we think it will have a far better reach and more people can learn about Buffer 🙂

I will be waiting for the WP-Plugin, but I think the idea of an affiliate program would be wonderful. I am telling everyone about this that I know of, but would love to get a bit of compensation for doing so.

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Hi Nicole, many thanks for stopping by. Awesome, so great you are interested in the WP-Plugin, I will let you know when it is ready for sure!

Yes, this is our exact intention with the affiliate program so we can give people back a little once they recommended others.

For now, have you seen our referral program Nicole? This allows you to invite friends to Buffer and you and the person invited will get extra space in your Buffer for it :). Hope that helps!

Hi everyone. You may like to see an example of the Buffer button working on a post at my self-hosted WordPress blog, http://dgil.so/eWdBwb

If you want to put the code into your WordPress blog before the plugin is available you need to replace {full URL of post goes here} with [LT]?php the_permalink(); ?[GT]; and replace {title of post goes here} with [LT]?php the_title(); ?[GT].

[LT] = less than, [GT] = greater than. Disqus wouldn’t let me put the code tags in properly!

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Many thanks for your great support David. Yep, great walk through, this is a very good explanation how to set it up.

      Thanks 🙂

      Thanks for the code tip.

  • http://seommotips.com Suresh Khanal

Hi, it is exactly as I wished and it would be even greater when count too are incorporated.

You should provide two buttons at least so that it can be integrated with Share bar. This bar turns to small icon horizontal when screen width is smaller and vertical at the side when screen width is sufficient. So if there are two buffer buttons, I could plug it directly in into Sharebar.

    I’m loving bufferApp.

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Wow, amazing Suresh, I have just checked it on your blog it really looks amazing!

And yet again man you are providing us with the most awesome ideas. Yep, this is very smart, 2 buttons which fit both the side bar and smaller screen, we definitely will incorporate that.

Again, thanks for the thoughts and I will keep you posted when it is all ready 🙂

  • http://www.BeyondThePedway.com Tim Jahn

Ohh love this idea! I’ll wait for the WP plugin, but I love this idea. Count will be great too. Would love to help spread use of Buffer and I think this helps.

Is there any way to add it through Jetpack? The idea with code or with plugin is nice, but I am using Jetpack and it would be nice if I can add it at service.

    • http://twitter.com/LeoWid Leo Widrich

Hi Stefan, thanks a lot for the suggestion, this could definitely be useful. We have just started out with the plugin, but hopefully a solution for you might be available at some point! 🙂

  • bradley

any way of adding this to tumblr?

    • http://joel.is Joel Gascoigne

      Hi Bradley,

Yep, it is totally possible and not too difficult. I have the Buffer button on my blog, which you can see here: http://joel.is

To do it, you need to “Customize” your blog, then open the “Theme” tab, click “Use Custom HTML” and add the code – https://gist.github.com/1028760 – just before “{/block:Posts}”.

Hope that helps! Let me know how you get on 🙂
