  23. Create a 4:1 ratio of types of tweets/updates
  24. Determine best times to post, using Buffer’s optimal timing tool
  25. Reach out to the people mentioned in your articles

Your content rocks, and people are excited to see it!

What happens though is that so much rockin’ content lands on social media every second that a person can’t possibly catch it all. (pokemon)

At Buffer, we reach 5% of our followers with a tweet and 2% of Facebook fans with a new update.

So, share your story multiple times in order to reach those who missed it the first time!

Change up your message: alternate the headline, grab a pullquote, share an image, etc. so that you have something new to share (and can learn what resonates most by checking analytics after).

P.S. How many times can you reshare? A Wisemetrics study found that, on average, the second tweet gets 86% as much performance as the first one, and even after 6 repetitions, you’re still at 67% of the first tweet.

Everyone! It’s not tied to Buffer accounts at all, so both current Buffer users and yet-to-be Buffer users can join.

What happens at the end of the 25 days?

At the end of the 25-day course, I’d love to share any extra strategies that came my way during our time together. I’ll send those along when we’re finished. And I’d love to hear any feedback you have on the course itself!

Will you be signing me up for other newsletters or lists, too?

  • I’m in! Given the quality of your past content, how can I resist?

    If only Buffer had a way to reshare original content automatically. For example, we conducted 100+ YouTube interviews last year. I would have liked a check box to reshare the latest interview three times (say) during the first week. Beyond that, I’d like a way to reshare all those interviews on a consistent basis (e.g., in sequence, weekdays at noon).

  • Won’t you be penalized for re-tweeting the same links? …….Posting the same thing over and over.
    If you’re trying to get a tweet visibility, you can’t do it by tweeting
    it like a maniac, particularly if it’s duplicate content tweeted at
    specific users. Same goes for links — Twitter will penalize you if they
    see you tweeting the same link over, and over, and over … and over.

    • Hi there Nassry! Thanks for the great comment here. Totally understand what you’re saying. I think the idea here might be slightly different in that reposting content would ideally happen with some degree of variation (you’d share the same link but not the same content) and also some degree of separation (i.e., not one right after the other, but instead with other tweets/posts in between). Hope that distinction helps!

    I really want to do this but I am not ready, literally. I am searching out website templates and names. I have content ready and I like the idea of spending a day making up a schedule for it to be released. I don’t even have accounts on all the various social media formats I want to post to. Will this be available in a couple weeks?
    I am going to start with your Social Media 101 course you mentioned to PJ Howland. I am overwhelmed and excited at the same time. I have joked about journaling my experiences as I go through this process, that may just make great side-bar blog content.
